At Stab Lab Designs, I’ve engineered a practice surface that does more than just hold ink. The Apprentice Series is a high-performance training tool designed to bridge the gap between silicone and real skin.

Fast & Forgiving Stencils: No more waiting 24 hours or using messy powders. Stencils lock in within 2 hours (faster with a blow dryer). If you miss your placement, you have a 10–20 minute window to wipe it clean with soap or stencil stuff—no ghosting, no mess, just a fresh start.
Tactile "Talk Back" Feedback: Our proprietary multi-density formula provides immediate physical resistance the second you push past the "sweet spot." It’s designed to help you master proper depth control through feel, not just sight.
Real-Time Blowout Indicators: Master your hand speed and depth before you ever touch a client. Our internal chemistry provides a visual warning for incorrect needle depth, showing "blowouts" directly in the middle of the pad.
Dual-Sided Versatility: Each 4mm sheet offers two distinct surfaces. The textured front is optimized for realistic needle drag and blowout feedback, while the glossy back offers a smooth alternative for additional practice.
Important Usage Note:
The specialized blowout feedback and tactile resistance are optimized for the textured front side. While the glossy reverse side is fully tattooable and great for extra practice, results and feedback on the back side will vary.

Stencil Application: For the best results, apply a thin layer of your preferred stencil primer, press your stencil firmly, and let it dry completely. (Stencils should stay within 2 hours of application. And wipe clean if wiped within 10 minutes of application.)
Cleaning Between Passes: To clear away excess ink during a session, use a light film of petroleum jelly (like Vaseline) or your preferred tattoo glide, and wipe clean with a soft paper towel.
Sanitizing & Washing: Completely safe to wipe down or soak with standard studio sanitizing wipes (like Cavicide), green soap, or isopropyl alcohol. To remove stubborn pigment stains after a session, wash with warm water and mild dish soap (like Dawn).
Handling: At 4mm thick, these skins provide a realistic depth buffer for depth-control practice. Avoid using scalpel blades or deep slashing motions, as deep cuts will slice through the material.
